Maya Mitra - Piano & Woodwind
Maya Mitra is a fourth year Kirby Laing Foundation Scholar at the Royal College of Music. She is a saxophonist with a diverse range of skills as a classical and jazz musician and an enthusiastic piano and woodwind teacher. She has wide teaching experience including private tutoring piano, clarinet, saxophone and flute to a range of ages, including beginners and adults. She has worked on projects with the Tri-Borough Music Hub, outreach with RCM Sparks, and as a leader on the Mini Mozart programme.
As a pianist, she has enjoyed accompanying exams, working alongside choirs and soloists and has achieved distinction in her ABRSM Piano Grade 8.
At the RCM, Maya studies with Kyle Horch and spends her time taking part in chamber music with her saxophone quartet, as well as the RCM Wind and Jazz Orchestras. She began her musical journey in Nottingham, learning piano, saxophone and clarinet with Alistair Parnell.
