Ethan Townsend - Saxophone & Reeds

Ethan Townsend is a London-based saxophonist and reed player known for his versatility across jazz and classical music. He has performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Syd Lawrence Jazz Orchestra, and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and appeared at top venues like Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Live Soho, and Crazy Coqs. A few collaborations include Dave Holland, Norma Winstone, Evan Parker, Trish Clowes, Tim Garland and Rob Luft. In classical music, Ethan is a founding member of the award-winning Astral Saxophone Quartet and has performed with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. He holds a first-class degree from the Royal College of Music and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Jazz Saxophone at the Royal Academy of Music, where he received an entrance scholarship. Additional honours include the Neville Wathen Scholarship, a Henry Wood Trust Award, and a Help Musicians Postgraduate Award.
